Founded in 1850, Domaine du Chalet Pouilly is located in Burgundy, France in the heart of the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. The estate vineyards stretch across the hillsides of eight sun-soaked acres of the Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru, Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, and Mâcon-Solutré appellations. The age of vines range from recent plantings in 2011 to century-old vineyard plots in Saint-Véran. These “vieilles vignes” (old vines) and younger plots grow harmoniously in a unique limestone-clay soil and are always farmed with environmental consciousness in mind, making Domaine du Chalet Pouilly an ideal setting for production of the highest quality wines.
The estate produces four types of 100% Chardonnay wine: Pouilly-Fuissé Premier Cru, Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, and Mâcon-Solutré.
Annual wine production of the domain is around 50,000 bottles. As the domaine develops and grows, this number continues to increase year by year. The average yield is 50 hectoliters per hectare and is year dependent.
The Plumet family has lived in the small Mâconnais village of Solutré Pouilly for over a century. While the family's first vine was planted in 1850, the earliest documented recognition came in 1928 when Joseph and Philippine Plumet were awarded the first prize at the Mâcon wine competition for their Burgundy wine. Since the early times of the estate the family wine business and viticultural expertise have been passed down from generation to generation.
Currently, run by Dr Bernard Léger-Plumet, his wife Marie-Agnès and their daughter Fabienne, Domaine du Chalet Pouilly is an over-a-century-old family business that continues to produce the most formidable examples of Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Mâcon-Solutré in the region. The wines of the domaine are frequently recognized for their quality by renowned wine experts.
